YOUNG ADULT BOOKS ROUNDUP – REVIEWS
January 2023
"In time for Valentine’s Day comes Anika Hussain’s debut, This Is How You Fall in Love (Hot Key Books, February). Zara is a superfan of all things love, from 90s romcom movies to sweeping romance novels, and dreams of her own big love story. Could her moment have arrived when she and best friend, Adnan, agree to pretend to be a couple? The fake dating scenario may be familiar but this delightful romantic comedy takes a thoughtful look at romance tropes and expectations, full of heart and candour."

HOT KEY BOOKS FALLS FOR TWO ‘SPARKLING YA ROMANTIC COMEDIES WITH DEPTH’ BY HUSSAIN
September 2023
The publisher describes This Is How You Fall in Love, as a “hilarious and heartfelt romcom” that centres on British-Bangladeshi characters Zara and Adnan, who are just friends until forced to fake date to cover up Adnan’s real relationship. But with fake dating comes fake hand-holding and fake kissing and real feelings… And when a new boy turns up in Zara’s life, things get more confusing than ever.
Matthewson said she was smitten at the first sentence of Hussain’s début, which she describes as “a sparkling romantic comedy with depth.”
